RaffleGives ("RaffleGives," "we," "us," or "our") operates the website at www.raffle.gives and the RaffleGives platform, which lets U.S. non-profit organizations run legal 50/50 raffles and lets supporters ("donors") purchase raffle tickets. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have.
This service is offered only in the United States and is intended for people who are of legal age to participate in a raffle in their state. By using RaffleGives, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information. When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and (if you provide it) your phone number. Authentication is handled by our sign-in provider; you can sign in with a magic link, Google, or Facebook. If you sign in with Google or Facebook, we receive basic profile information (such as your name and email) from that provider.
- Organization information. If you set up or manage a non-profit organization, we collect information about the organization and the people who administer it, including details needed to verify the organization and to enable payouts (for example, business and bank or payout details, which are collected and processed by our payment processor, Stripe).
- Purchase and participation information. When you buy tickets or enter a raffle we collect the details of your order, the raffles you participate in, and information needed to confirm eligibility — including an age affirmation and your location at the time of purchase.
- Communications. If you contact us, respond to a referral invitation, or subscribe to updates, we keep the content of those communications and your contact preferences.
Google user data (only if you connect Google Contacts)
If — and only if — you explicitly choose to connect your Google account to invite people to a raffle, we request read-only access to your Google Contacts (the "contacts.readonly" scope). This is entirely optional.
- What we access: your Google contacts' names and email addresses.
- Why: solely so that you can pick which of your own contacts to send your personal referral link to. We use this data only to display your contacts to you and to send the invitations you select.
- What we do not do: we do not store your Google contacts on our servers. Your contact list is fetched on demand at the moment you open the invite tool and is not retained afterward. We do not use your Google data for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not transfer it to third parties except as needed to provide this feature to you.
- Tokens: the credential that lets us access your contacts when you use the feature is stored in encrypted form, and you can disconnect Google access at any time from your account settings, which revokes our access.
See Section 4 ("Google API Services — Limited Use") below for our Limited Use disclosure.
Information we collect automatically
- Device and usage information. Like most websites, we automatically collect technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and interactions with the site.
- Location information. Raffles are regulated by state, so before you can purchase we verify where you are using two signals: your device or browser location and your IP-based location (via an IP geolocation provider). We use this only to confirm you are in an eligible location; we do not track your continuous location.
- Cookies and similar technologies. We use cookies and similar technologies for essential site functionality and for analytics (see Section 5).
2. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- provide and operate the RaffleGives platform, create and manage your account, and process ticket purchases;
- process payments, fees, and payouts through our payment processor;
- meet legal and regulatory requirements for raffles, including verifying age and location;
- run referral and invitation features that you choose to use;
- send you transactional messages (order confirmations, winner notifications, account and security notices) and, where permitted, product updates you can opt out of;
- detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, and security issues; and
- improve the platform and understand how it is used.
3. How we share your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in these circumstances:
- Service providers. We share information with vendors who process it on our behalf, under contract, including: Stripe (payments and payouts), our authentication provider (account sign-in), Google (Google sign-in, Google Maps for location verification, and Google Contacts if you connect it), Facebook (Facebook sign-in), Neon (database hosting), Vercel (application hosting), Cloudflare R2 (file storage), an IP geolocation provider, and our email delivery provider.
- Organizations you interact with. When you purchase tickets or enter a raffle, the relevant non-profit organization receives the information necessary to administer that raffle and fulfill prizes (such as your name and contact details, and winner information where applicable).
- Analytics providers. We share limited usage data with analytics services (see Section 5).
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of RaffleGives, our users, or others.
- Business transfers. If RaffleGives is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy.
4. Google API Services — Limited Use
RaffleGives's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically, data obtained from Google Contacts is used only to provide and improve the in-product invitation feature you choose to use, is not transferred to others except as necessary to provide that feature or as required by law, is not used for advertising, and is not sold. Human access to this data is not permitted except with your consent, for security purposes, to comply with applicable law, or where the data is aggregated and anonymized.
5. Cookies and analytics
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to make the site work. We also use analytics tools, including Google Tag Manager and the analytics services it loads, to understand how the platform is used so we can improve it. You can control cookies through your browser settings; blocking some cookies may affect how the site works.
6. Data retention
We keep personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, and thereafter as required to comply with our legal obligations (including tax, financial, and raffle-compliance recordkeeping), resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Google Contacts data is not retained after each use of the invitation feature, as described in Section 1.
7. Data security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption of sensitive data such as payout and connected-account credentials. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your rights and choices
- Access, correction, and deletion. You can review and update your account information in your account settings, and you can request access to or deletion of your personal information by contacting us.
- Marketing communications. You can opt out of non-essential emails using the unsubscribe link in those messages or in your notification settings. We will still send you transactional messages related to your account and purchases.
- Disconnect Google. If you connected Google Contacts, you can disconnect it at any time in your account settings, which revokes our access, and you can also manage access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- State privacy rights. Depending on your state of residence (for example, California), you may have additional rights regarding your personal information, such as the right to know, delete, correct, and to opt out of certain sharing. We do not sell personal information. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below.
9. Children's privacy
RaffleGives is not directed to children. You must be of legal age to participate in a raffle in your state to use the platform, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "last updated" date shown above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of RaffleGives after an update means you accept the revised policy.
11. Contact us
